Jökulsárlón means “glacier river lagoon”. The lagoon and icebergs come from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, which is part of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe by volume. The lagoon has grown fourfold since the 1970s, to give you an idea of how fast the glaciers melt.

I traveled with my family around the south during the summer of 2017 after seeing the most incredible waterfalls and volcanoes we´ve ever seen.
Arriving at Jökulsárlón was one of those amazing moments where I´ve felt lost for words.
It was so touching for me that it made me more aware of why fighting to changing climate is so urgent.
Icebergs like Diamonds
Hundreds of icebergs were glowing in different shapes and sizes much like diamonds. In between them, seals were swimming around the water, we were astonished. After a few days, we came back to enjoy this beauty again. The weather is so unpredictable in Iceland than the light and landscape it´s constantly changing and no two visits will ever be the same.
Jökulsárlón is one of the most beautiful places you´ll ever visit in your lifetime. It made me think about glaciers and how heartbreaking would be if they disappear.
We need to be more aware of the impact of climate change on the environment.
